Explore Miyajima Island and Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park on a guided tour. See the floating Torii gate, visit the Itsukushima Shrine, and learn about Hiroshima's tragic history.

Begin your journey at Hiroshima Station. After meeting your guide, take the train to Miyajimaguchi Station. Then, take a short ferry ride to Miyajima Island, also known as Itsukushima Island. As you approach the island, admire the iconic floating Torii gate, which appears to be suspended in the water.

Once you arrive on the island, be greeted by friendly deer and a bustling town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Stroll along the shoreline towards the breathtaking O-Torii gate that appears to float on the water during high tide, and take the chance to walk to it during low tide.

Next, visit the renowned Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before heading to the stunning Daisho-in Temple complex. This temple is one of the most important in the region and is home to a variety of important Buddhist artifacts and relics.

Finally, immerse yourself in the lively downtown area, where you can indulge in a variety of delectable local street foods. One of the most popular dishes on Miyajima is the local specialty, Momiji Manju. These sweet, maple leaf-shaped cakes are stuffed with a variety of fillings, including sweet red bean paste, custard, and chocolate. They make for the perfect snack as you explore the island.

For the second part of the tour, head back to Hiroshima and visit the Peace Memorial Park. Discover what Hiroshima was like before the tragedy, why it was selected as the primary target, and how it rose from the ashes to become a symbol of peace.  Explore the details of that fateful day in August 1945 and learn about the bombing that forever changed the lives of the survivors.

Walk through the Peace Memorial Park, a space dedicated to the victims of the nuclear attack, both direct and indirect. Listen to the stories behind landmarks, statues, and squares, and discover important symbols hidden in plain sight.  During the tour, visit famous and important monuments within Hiroshima Peace Park, where your guide will not only share the history behind these monuments but also connect them to the stories and testimonies of Atomic Bomb victims, tying the history together.

The tour will touch on various significant monuments, such as the Atomic Bomb Dome, Children's Monument, Hiroshima Peace Park Rest House, Flame of Peace, Peace Cenotaph for Atomic Bomb Victims and the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for Atomic Bomb Victims. Finally, conclude the tour in front of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Leave your tour with a deeper understanding of the events of August 6, 1945, how the bombing affected Hiroshima, and its impact on present-day life in the city.
